February 2012 Update

2012 DuesThe Board hired a new bookkeeper, Rebecca Krause, to handle all the dues and registrations. She's sending out invoices this week for 2012. There was a bit of a glitch when she sent them last week, everyone received the same invoice unfortunately, so she'll be sending new invoices. I apologize for the inconvenience as we switch to a new point of contact. We also accept credit cards, so please let Rebecca or myself know if you prefer to pay with a credit card and we'll send you an invoice with a link to use your credit card. We very much appreciate your continued support of CSLRA! URGENT ACTION REQUESTED - TRUCK SIZE & WEIGHTThe ASLRRA has asked for our help. The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee appears to be ready to make a decision on Truck Size & Weight as early as next Tuesday. According to a study on short line traffic diversion, increasing the truck weight limits on federal highways could divert as much as 44% of merchandise traffic off of short lines and onto federal highways. We need you to call your representative NO LATER THAN NEXT MONDAY, JANUARY 30TH. Let them know that you oppose bigger trucks. If you need information on how to contact your representative or more talking points, please contact me. 2012 MeetingsWe will continue with our pattern of 3 meetings again this year, beginning with our Lobby Day in Sacramento. I just got confirmation today that we'll be able to hold our Lobby Day at the Sacramento Hyatt on March 28th. I'll be sending out more information for registering and booking a room at the Hyatt soon! Our Annual Meeting will again be held at the Westin San Diego, July 9 & 10. This year we will be holding a golf outting in conjunction with our meeting. Andy Perez has agreed to help plan the outting, if you have ideas or suggestions please feel free to contact him. The BNSF has agreed to host the Annual Train Ride this year. They will be setting the date soon and expect that they'll be able to provide the cars in November. The trip will begin in the port of Los Angeles for a trip thru the Alameda Corridor to San Diego. The Pacific Harbor Lines will again set up a tour of the port. The tour and trip are both very interesting and I encourage you to invite your elected officials.
