Short line railroads play an important role in the overall transportation picture in California, and we are pleased that you have taken the time to learn more about our industry. From San Diego to Shasta, from San Francisco Bay to the Sierra Foothills, short line railroads haul a wide variety of products: everything from imported goods in containers to agricultural products, lumber to petroleum products, and even passengers on a few tourist operations. Often locally owned and operated, short line railroads are an integral part of the local communities through which they operate.

This website provides current information and periodic announcements concerning the short line railroad industry in California: railroad statistics, company contact information, legislative updates, and announcements concerning upcoming special events or meetings.
