It’s time for CSLRA to continue its yearly effort to educate legislators and staff about the railroad industry in general, and the California Short Line industry in particular. This year our meeting HQ will be at the Sheraton Grand Hotel Sacramento.
We need your participation on “Lobby Day” to help us reach as many legislators as possible. Participants will hear important updates concerning state and federal legislation and regulations, and participate in office visits with state legislators. 2023 CSLRA Fall Event – Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles

There is no CSLRA hotel room block for this event. CSLRA recommends reserving rooms at the Crowne Plaza in San Pedro or the Doubletree San Pedro. Ground transportation to the morning and afternoon sessions will be provided for attendees staying at these two hotels. Attendees choosing other hotels will need to manage their own ground transportation (rideshare/rental car) on October 18.

Hotel rates in San Diego this summer are higher than they were in our past visits. Note that we have contracted for a $15/day reduction in the daily resort fee at the Westin Bayview. At the top of the online booking page you will see this confirmation – “PLEASE NOTE: CSLRA July 2023 attendees who book their reservations in the block will have a discounted hotel facilities fee of $10. You will see the full fee of $25 added onto your estimate when you book your stay, but please note that you will ONLY be charged $10 per night plus tax at check out.”

2023 CSLRA Sacramento Visit
March 8-10, 2023
Join CSLRA’s annual Sacramento Visit March 8-10, 2023. Event HQ will be the Sheraton Grand Hotel Sacramento. March 8 will be a travel day with informal late afternoon/evening networking opportunities and no scheduled events other than a meeting for the Board of Directors at 1900. The formal meeting agenda will begin in the hotel at 0900 on March 9. The meeting room will be open, with coffee provided, starting at 0800 for networking. The morning session will cover current legislative and regulatory topics and will run until 1130, followed by a buffet lunch. Since the Capitol is closed for renovation, in the afternoon we will have meetings with legislators/staff members from 1300 – 1600 in their temporary office building known as the “Swing Space.” Following the meeting we will have an early evening reception for attendees, legislators and staff. On March 10 our event will conclude with a brunch and excursion trip hosted by Sierra Northern Railway from 1000 to 1300.

The California Short Line Railroad Association 2022 Sacramento visit will be based at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento. The event will include a meeting morning and afternoon, and an informal evening reception on March 2, followed by an excursion trip on the Sierra Northern Railway mid-day on March 3.

2021 CSLRA Annual Meeting
July 14-15, 2021
For 2021 the California Short Line Railroad Association will return to the Westin San Diego for our Annual Meeting. We will kick off with lunch at 11:45 AM on July 14th, meeting 1:00pm to -5:00pm, followed by an evening reception 5:30-7 PM. The group will recommence at 9:00am on July 15th with the meeting adjourning at Noon, followed by optional (self-arranged) social activities from 1 – 5 PM. Presentations will include a review and discussion of CA Air Resources Board (CARB) proposed in-use locomotive regulations, a topic of critical importance to all railroad operations in CA.

CSLRA’s next annual meeting, originally to take place in San Diego July 8 – 9, 2020, will be held online in an abbreviated format on July 8 from 1 PM to 3 PM PDT. The agenda will include updates on the State of California’s new Short Line Grant Program and current state/federal legislative issues affecting the CSLRA membership. Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and associated health regulations, we will unfortunately be unable to hold our annual Fall Train Ride in 2020. We anticipate resuming this annual event in 2021.
