The Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) is the designated Regional Transportation Planning Agency for Ventura County. The VCTC has recently posted an RFP for an operator for the Santa Paula Branch. The services being solicited are any combination of a potential excursion operation, movie train operations and other movie support activities, freight rail operation consistent with the terms of agreement with Union Pacific as may be modified in the future, and maintenance of the infrastructure to support any proposed operations and meet contractual and regulatory obligations as enumerated in this RFP and supporting documents.

Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and associated health regulations, we will unfortunately be unable to hold our annual Fall Train Ride in 2020. We anticipate resuming this annual event in 2021.

From the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GoBiz): The California Competes Tax Credit application period is officially open. There are $80 million in tax credits available during this application period for businesses that are locating or expanding and adding full-time jobs in California. The deadline to submit applications is Monday, August 17, at 11:59 p.m. (PST). Click here to learn more about the program.
